From Training to Triumph: Tricia Monterola Wins Bronze at WorldSkills Philippines CALABARZON 2026

At just 19 years old, Tricia F. Monterola has already achieved milestones that inspire many young people to pursue their dreams through skills development and perseverance.

A member of a sponsored family under Good Neighbors International Philippines (GNPH), Tricia is among the completers of the Learn and Grow Project, a collaborative initiative of GNPH, TESDA Cainta, and LG Electronics Philippines. Through the program, she successfully completed the Domestic Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (DomRAC) NC II training in 2025.

Her dedication and commitment did not go unnoticed. Shortly after completing the training, Tricia was hired as a Technician at LG Electronics Philippines, where she continues to apply and enhance the technical skills she acquired through the program.

Tricia’s family takes immense pride in her accomplishments, recognizing the hard work and determination that have helped her reach this point. For her part, Tricia remains grateful for the opportunity to secure meaningful employment that supports both her personal growth and her family’s well-being.

This year, another opportunity came her way. Through her outstanding performance as a technician, Tricia was selected to compete in the WorldSkills Philippines CALABARZON 2026, held in Rizal Province from May 26 to 28, 2026. The prestigious competition brought together more than a hundred competitors from public and private technical-vocational institutions, colleges, and universities across the region.

With the support and leadership of Ms. Evangeline E. Palazo, Center Administrator of TESDA Training Center Cainta, Rizal, Tricia underwent intensive preparation and training before competing in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning category.

Her hard work paid off. Tricia proudly secured 3rd Place and received a Bronze Award, bringing home not only a medal but also a deep sense of fulfillment and gratitude for everyone who supported her journey.

Following the competition, Tricia returned to her role at LG Electronics Philippines, carrying with her newfound confidence, valuable experience, and an even stronger determination to achieve her goals. Inspired by her accomplishments, she remains committed to building a brighter future for herself and her family through continuous learning, hard work, and resilience.
