What is Community Development?

Community Development is a process where community members come together to take collective action and generate solutions to common problems. It’s about empowering people in a local area to transform their community for good.

What is Child Sponsorship?

Child Sponsorship is a one-on-one sponsorship scheme between a sponsor and a Filipino child. It is a meaningful form of support where the child receives assistance to meet his or her basic needs, while also contributing to development efforts in the community where the child lives.

The program fosters a purposeful and meaningful relationship between the sponsor and the child. This emotional connection can positively influence the child, encouraging them to grow into a capable, independent, and self-reliant individual.

How much does it cost to sponsor a child through the Food Support Program of Good Neighbors?

Child Sponsorship promotes the spirit of sharing and caring among Filipinos and other interested sponsors. It reinforces values such as love, compassion, partnership, and unity.

For only Php ____ per month, you can help the child and family overcome poverty. Your support provides immediate assistance for the child and their family while working toward long-term self-sufficiency.

Can I choose a child to be sponsored?

All children listed for sponsorship are in need of support and have been identified by community volunteers and staff. If you have a preferred profile, such as age or gender, we can assist. However, in compliance with government guideline set, a complete profile and photo of the child can only be shared after we receive your initial donation pledge.

What’s the difference between direct and indirect beneficiaries?

Direct beneficiaries are the registered children and their families who are part of the sponsorship program. Indirect beneficiaries are community members who may not be officially sponsored but still benefit from the programs and services implemented in the community.

How does becoming a sponsor help a child, his/her family, and community?

Sponsorship significantly improves the life of the child. Donations are translated into tangible services through sectoral programs in education, health, child protection, and advocacy. In addition, services are extended to the child’s family and the broader community through various economic and social development programs. These efforts aim to enhance the overall well-being of the child, their family, and their community.
