Good Neighbors Philippines Brings Communities Together for Environmental Action
Protecting the environment starts with people coming together.

In celebration of Philippine Environment Month, Good Neighbors Philippines, in partnership with the SEAMANCOR Eco-Developers Service Cooperative and the Local Government of Prieto Diaz, brought together more than 160 participants for a day of environmental action, learning, and community engagement.
With the theme "Climate Action: Fostering Community Spirit, Caring for the Environment," the event united local government officials, youth organizations, schools, community groups, cooperative members, sponsored families, scholars, and volunteers all working toward a shared goal of protecting the environment for future generations.
During the opening program, Prieto Diaz Mayor Romeo Domasian underscored the municipality's commitment to environmental stewardship and its vision of becoming a sustainable tourism destination.
"Protecting our environment is not just a responsibility, it is an investment in the future of Prieto Diaz. Through collective action, we can preserve our natural resources while promoting sustainable tourism and development."
Delia Supelana, Chairman of SEAMANCOR, also emphasized that meaningful environmental change is only possible through strong partnerships and active community participation.

Participants took part in a variety of hands-on activities, including a coastal cleanup, mangrove planting, and Eco-Zumba, before joining an environmental symposium featuring experts from DENR-PENRO, the Provincial Government of Sorsogon, and local government offices. Discussions focused on coastal and marine conservation, solid waste management, sustainable tourism, and environmental leadership, equipping participants with practical knowledge to become environmental champions in their own communities.
The event was made even more meaningful through the active participation of Good Neighbors Philippines’ volunteers, scholars, sponsored families from participating barangays, and community service volunteers, demonstrating that caring for the environment is a shared responsibility.
By bringing together government agencies, civil society organizations, and local communities, the initiative strengthened collective action toward protecting Prieto Diaz's rich natural resources and building a more sustainable future for all.
