Good Neighbors Philippines Responds to Typhoon Uwan’s Impact in Gigmoto, Catanduanes
Typhoon Uwan severely affected one of Good Neighbors Philippines’ Community Development Project areas in Gigmoto, Catanduanes, leaving families facing damaged homes, disrupted livelihoods, and renewed uncertainty. For the people of Gigmoto, this is an all-too-familiar reality—each typhoon brings fresh challenges that test the community’s strength and resilience.
In response, Good Neighbors Philippines deployed a team to Gigmoto to deliver much-needed assistance to affected families. Working closely with the local government, the organization ensured that the distribution of relief goods was orderly, timely, and reached those most in need.
As part of the response, the team conducted a courtesy visit to Municipal Mayor Vicente Tayam, Jr., strengthening coordination with the local government to align immediate relief efforts and support the community’s urgent priorities.
For families in Gigmoto, the assistance provided offered not just material relief, but reassurance during a difficult time. This response reflects Good Neighbors Philippines’ continuing mission—to stand with communities in their greatest moments of need, extend compassion through action, and support recovery beyond emergency relief.
Beyond responding to disasters, Good Neighbors Philippines remains committed to building resilient and sustainable communities—communities that can face future challenges with preparedness, dignity, and hope.
